Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi and Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi visited the disaster-stricken areas in Wayanad, Kerala today.

The two leaders went to the Choorlamala landslide site, where they extended their condolences to the affected individuals, shared in their grief, and promised comprehensive support for their rehabilitation.

In a viral video, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi along with sister Priyanka Gandhi is captured gently patting a street puppy while strolling through Wayanad. The Gandhi siblings, clad in blue raincoats, are seen walking with local residents in the rain-affected area. During their walk, Priyanka Gandhi spots a rescue team member holding the puppy and reaches out to softly pat the puppy’s forehead followed by Rahul Gandhi.

Rescue operations are in full swing in Wayanad, Kerala, following catastrophic landslides that have wreaked extensive damage. The army, navy, and coast guard are engaged in search and rescue efforts across Attamala, Mundakkai, and Churalmala. The death toll has climbed to approximately 250, with many individuals still unaccounted for.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi won two seats in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections: Wayanad in Kerala and Raebareli in Uttar Pradesh. However, he gave up one of these seats to his sister, Priyanka Gandhi.
