Authorities in Tampa, Florida, have arrested four individuals in connection with the murder of rapper Julio Foolio, whose real name was Charles Jones II. Jones was fatally shot in a parking lot in June, just two days after his 26th birthday. The suspects include:

Background on the Incident

According to police, the murder is believed to be a targeted, gang-related incident. The suspects reportedly traveled from Jacksonville to Tampa the day before the homicide. Jones, who started his music career in 2015 and released his final album “Resurrection” in April, was ambushed in the parking lot of a Holiday Inn.

  • Attackers: Three armed shooters exited a vehicle and began shooting at Jones.
  • Celebration Gone Wrong: Before the shooting, Jones had been celebrating his birthday at a nearby Airbnb.
  • Injuries: Besides killing Jones, the attack also injured three others.

Police have identified Jones as a member of the “6 Block” gang in Jacksonville, which has long-standing rivalries with the “ATK” and “1200” gangs. The suspects have ties to these gangs:

  • Rashad Murphy: 1200 member
  • Davion Murphy: 1200 gang associate

Charges and Arrests

  • Alicia L. Andrews and Isaiah J. Chance: Conspiracy to commit murder, arrested at a residence on July 27.
  • Sean A. Gathright: Attempted first-degree murder and tampering with evidence, arrested at a local Jacksonville shopping center.
  • Rashad Murphy: Arrested on Tuesday for an unrelated warrant, later surrendering to SWAT teams.

Tampa Police Department Chief Lee Bercaw emphasized the city’s commitment to prosecuting those who attempt to settle disputes through violence. He praised the cooperation among law enforcement agencies and expressed hope that these arrests bring some closure to the victims’ families.
