Nine Arrested In Shocking Abduction & Robbery Of Pakistani Playwright Khalilur Rehman Qamar

Dawn reports that Nine persons, including two women, were arrested in the honey trapping, abduction and robbery case involving noted Pakistani playwright Khalilur Rehman Qamar.

Qamar was kidnapped in Lahore under very disturbing circumstances. He was enticed to a place by a woman named Amna, who had allegedly called him for a meeting regarding some drama serial. He was intercepted by armed abductors at the spot, followed by a hair-raising series of events.

Qamar has reportedly been tortured and driven to multiple unknown locations. The abductors have demanded a huge ransom from Qamar and his family, stolen his personal belongings, including a mobile phone, watch, and cash, and withdrawn PKR 250,000 from his ATM card.

Qamar described his threats to life and physical assault in his statement at the Sundar police station. He revealed that after the assailants inflicted violence, they blindfolded him and left him in some secluded area and escaped.

A case already stands registered on the basis of Qamar’s FIR, and efforts are being made to trace the culprits and ensure justice.

Khalilur Rehman Qamar is indeed a big name within the realms of the entertainment industry in Pakistan. His renowned dramas include “Mere Paas Tum Ho,” “Pyaray Afzal,” and “Sadqay Tumhare.” His outspoken views regarding gender roles and feminism have made him a controversial figure, though, as they raise both support and criticism in Pakistani society.
