Congress MP Manickam Tagore criticized Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, calling him a failed minister and demanding his resignation. Tagore, addressing the NEET-UG paper leak issue which Pradhan spoke about in today’s Lok Sabha session, emphasized that the matter is crucial and deserves discussion. However, he noted that the ruling party has thus far been unwilling to engage in this discussion.
“NEET is an important issue on which we wanted to have a discussion. Till now, they are not ready to have a discussion… The education minister is a failed education minister… If he has any integrity or morality, he should have resigned,” he said.
Tagore also accused the Union government of shifting focus away from real issues and instead seeking to bring up concerns of the public.
“We also want our people’s issues to be raised in parliament… He (PM Modi) wants to divert from the real issues. We all want the parliament to function…But the ruling party is not ready to have a discussion,” he stated.
Previously, Tagore submitted an adjournment motion notice in the Lok Sabha, calling for a debate on the current controversy surrounding alleged irregularities in the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) and University Grants Commission-National Eligibility Test (UGC-NET) administered by the National Testing Agency (NTA).
In his notice, Manickam Tagore requested the House to suspend all scheduled business for the day to address the “unprecedented cases of paper leaks in the conduct of exams including NEET-UG and UGC NET and the failure of the National Testing Agency (NTA).”
During the last session, both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha experienced multiple adjournments. Congress and other opposition parties demanded a debate on the NEET-UG controversy, while the government was focused on discussing the motion of thanks for the President’s address.
