“Nothing Wrong With It…”: Arun Govil Supports UP Government’s ‘Nameplate’ Mandate For Kanwar Yatra Shops

Terming the Uttar Pradesh government’s directive to ask all food shops to display the name of their owners along the Kanwar Yatra route ‘perfectly justified’, BJP MP Arun Govil said on Monday he doesn’t find anything wrong with the order.

“I don’t find anything wrong in this order. Whatever has happened is right. Displaying names on the shops is not wrong. The person who is eating has the right to know from where they are eating. There is nothing wrong with it,” Arun Govil told ANI.

On the other hand, Samajwadi Party MP from Faizabad, Awadhesh Prasad, condemned the Uttar Pradesh government for denting the unity of the nation.

“If we talk about Kanwar Yatri, it has been going from long time. Either it is Hindu or Muslim everyone used to welcome them. But the decisions taken by Yogi ji is not right and is very dangerous. This decision is to break the unity of the country. Yeh desh sabka hai aur yeh baat agar log nhi samjhe toh nuksaan bhi sabka hoga. This order should be removed,” said Awadhesh Prasad.

It has been made compulsory by the Uttar Pradesh government that all restaurants and eateries located along the Kanwar Yatra route display the name of their owners. The Haridwar Police Administration issued a similar order on Friday for restaurants along the route.

During the month of Sawan, Kanwar Yatra is conducted, where Ganga Jal is brought by the devotees to be offered to Lord Shiva on Shivratri. Sawan Shivratri is celebrated with great zeal and enthusiasm in July or August by all North Indian states like Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Bihar. This month is considered very auspicious, and the temples here conduct pujas and shiva darshan.
