Kedarnath Temple Trust Head Rebuts Shankaracharya’s ‘Gold Scam’ Allegations

Shri Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee President Ajendra Ajay has refused allegations by Shankaracharya of Jyotirmath, Swami Avimukteshwaranand, claiming that 228 kg of gold were stolen from the Kedarnath Temple.

Ajendra Ajay stated that the spiritual leader’s remarks on the Kedarnath Temple were unfortunate. “I respect Swami Avimukteshwaranand, but he frequently holds press conferences. Stoking controversy, creating sensationalism, and being in the news seems to be a habit of Swami Avimukteshwaranand”

Ajendra Ajay claimed that the priest’s comments on Kedarnath were part of a Congress agenda. He urged Swami Avimukteshwaranand to stop harming the dignity of the Kedarnath Temple.

Swami Avimukteshwaranand had stated, “After doing a scam there, now Kedarnath will be built in Delhi? And then there will be another scam. 228 kg of gold is missing from Kedarnath… No inquiry has started. Who is responsible for this?”

The temple trust president dismissed these claims as baseless, urging the Swami to follow legal channels if he had any evidence. “I challenge him to bring forth facts and evidence. He should approach the authorities, present the evidence, and demand an investigation. If he doesn’t trust the authorities, he should file a PIL with the Supreme Court or High Court to demand an investigation if he genuinely has evidence,” he added.
