Congress brainstorms changes in leadership

The Congress party has fastened its seat belt after acquiring victory on 99 seats in the Lok Sabha elections. Party leaders are contemplating new strategies and some wholesome changes are expected in the organisation soon.
According to some sources, the party has started brainstorming and the changes might affect general secretaries. Numerous appointments are anticipated at secretary level. Additionally, there are indications that the party may appoint a new vice-president. A decision on the crucial post of organisation general secretary is also expected. At present, this position is held by KC Venugopal, a trusted confidant of the Gandhi family. The Gandhi family must decide whether he will continue in this role or be assigned to an important state like Kerala.
Kerala is important for Congress since Priyanka Gandhi has decided to contest from Wayanad. It’s the only state where Congress has a strong chance of coming to power after their defeat last time. The Gandhi family wants to appoint someone close to them as the Kerala Chief Minister to boost their chances.
Assembly elections in Kerala are due in less than two years, and Congress is looking to make a comeback. Priyanka will contest a by-election in Wayanad following her brother Rahul Gandhi quitting the seat. This by-election is likely in the next six months.
The decision on Venugopal depends on his wish, whether he will go now or later. The party may have won 99 seats in the Lok Sabha, but it is not leaving out any opportunity to recharge the workers by calling it a big achievement.
