The Indian cricket team, victorious after 17 years, returned to Delhi on Thursday morning, proudly bringing home the T20 World Cup trophy they won in Barbados. The triumph has sparked nationwide celebrations, with fans expressing their joy and admiration for their heroes.

Hundreds of enthusiastic supporters gathered at the Indira Gandhi International Airport, waving the national flag and holding placards with messages of congratulations for their favorite players. The atmosphere was electric as fans agerly awaited the arrival of the team that had made the nation proud once again.

Taking to social media platform X, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) posted, “It’s home #TeamIndia.” This sentiment resonated across the internet, with fans flooding the platform with congratulatory messages.

One fan wrote, “Aa gayi ji aa gayi jiska barso se intejaar tha wo trophy ghar aa gayi,” expressing the joy of finally seeing the T20 World Cup trophy come home after years of anticipation. Another fan shared, “A warm welcome to our country’s heroes on their return to India after winning the World Cup!” The excitement was palpable as another message read, “Welcome home team India, finally after 17 years India is back with the Trophy. Great moment!”

The celebrations are set to continue as the team travels to Mumbai on Thursday evening. The squad will participate in an open bus road show, followed by a grand felicitation ceremony at the iconic Wankhede Stadium. Rohit Sharma, the World Cup-winning captain, extended a special invitation to the passionate Indian supporters, urging them to join the victory parade at Marine Drive and the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai to celebrate this monumental achievement.

BCCI Secretary Jay Shah also announced plans for the open-top bus parade in Mumbai, inviting fans to join in the celebrations. “Join us for the Victory Parade honouring Team India’s World Cup win! Head to Marine Drive and Wankhede Stadium on July 4th from 5:00 pm onwards to celebrate with us! Save the date! #TeamIndia #Champions,” posted on X.
