Jasprit Bumrah: Second-Highest Wicket-Taker For India In T20 WC Edition

Jasprit Bumrah, the leading fast bowler for India, secured the second-highest number of wickets for the Men in Blue in a single edition of the T20 World Cup. He shone in the T20 World Cup 2024 semifinal against England, taking two crucial wickets against Jos Buttler’s team.

In the current major tournament, Bumrah has taken 13 wickets for Team India.

Meanwhile, Arshdeep Singh, the left-arm pacer from India, has become the leading wicket-taker for the Indian team in a single edition of the T20 World Cup. However, in the match against England on Thursday, Arshdeep did not manage to take any wickets in his two overs. The 25-year-old has accumulated a total of 15 wickets so far in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024.

Former Indian cricketer RP Singh secured the third position in the rankings by claiming 12 wickets during the 2007 T20 World Cup.

Reflecting on India’s recent match against England in the semi-finals, Jos Buttler’s team won the toss and opted to bowl against the Indian team.

Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav played pivotal roles as India reached a total of 171/7. Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja contributed effectively during the first innings.

Chris Jordan spearheaded the England bowling attack with three wickets, conceding 37 runs in his three-over spell.

During their chase, England struggled to grasp the pitch conditions and managed to score only 103 runs in 16.4 overs. Harry Brook and Jos Buttler were the top performers with the bat for England.

India’s bowling attack, spearheaded by Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav, proved decisive as both claimed three wickets each. Their efforts contributed significantly to India’s 68-run victory. Jasprit Bumrah also chipped in with two wickets while defending their total of 172 runs.

The stage is now set for the T20 World Cup final, featuring undefeated teams in India and South Africa, scheduled to happen in Barbados this Saturday (June 29).
