Watch: Thieves Use Ropes to Steal ATM, Police Recover How Much?

In a dramatic turn of events, a gang of four men managed to uproot an ATM machine in Maharashtra’s Beed district and flee the scene in a pickup truck. However, a swift response from the police resulted in a high-speed chase spanning over 61 kilometers, ultimately leading to the recovery of the stolen loot.

The incident, which took place on Saturday at a State Bank of India (SBI) ATM in Beed’s Dharur, was captured on CCTV footage that has since gone viral. The footage shows two men wearing raincoats and covering their faces as they tie a thick rope around the cash machine. The other end of the rope was attached to a pickup truck, which they used to pull the machine out of its place. After a second attempt, they successfully dislodged the ATM.

Two more accomplices, one also in a raincoat and another in a black full-sleeved T-shirt, then joined the first two. Together, they carried the machine out of the ATM booth and took the rope with them.

Upon being alerted by the bank staff, the police launched a high-speed pursuit of the thieves. Despite the thieves abandoning the ATM machine and managing to escape, the police recovered ₹24 lakh from the scene, according to a report by the Free Press Journal.

The incident highlights both the audacity of the thieves and the prompt response of the local police, who managed to recover the stolen money despite the perpetrators evading capture. Authorities are continuing their efforts to track down and apprehend the suspects involved in the theft.
