Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav congratulated Om Birla on his election as the Lok Sabha Speaker on Wednesday, expressing hopes for impartiality and respect towards all parties in the House.
In his congratulatory message, Akhilesh Yadav emphasized the importance of non-discriminatory practices and the need for equal opportunities for opposition leaders. He stated, “We believe you will move forward without discrimination and as the Speaker, you will give equal opportunity and respect to every party. Impartiality is a great responsibility of this great post. You sitting here are the chief justice of the court of democracy.”
Yadav also highlighted concerns about maintaining the dignity of the House, particularly referencing the suspension of MPs. “We expect that the voice of no public representative will be suppressed and actions like suspensions which hurt the dignity of the House will not be taken,” he added.
Om Birla’s election as Speaker has raised expectations among opposition leaders for a fair and balanced approach in the conduct of parliamentary proceedings.
