Actor-turned-politician Kangana Ranaut has revealed the release date for her upcoming film ‘Emergency.’ Sharing the news on Instagram, Kangana unveiled a new poster featuring herself as former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. In the poster, she is seen looking away from the camera. The film is set to hit theaters on September 7 this year.

Multiple Delays

Last month, the film’s release date was postponed due to the Lok Sabha Elections. Kangana, who serves as the lead actor, writer, director, and producer of “Emergency,” is working with Manikarnika Films Production on the political drama. Initially set for a November 24, 2023 release, the film has faced several delays.

About the Film

“Emergency” is described as a pivotal moment in India’s political history. The film features Anupam Kher, Mahima Chaudhary, Milind Soman, Shreyas Talpade, Vishak Nair, and the late Satish Kaushik. Produced by Zee Studios, Renu Pitti, and Kangana, the screenplay and dialogues are by Ritesh Shah, with music by Sanchit Balhara.

Kangana on Directing and Starring in ‘Emergency’

Previously, Kangana expressed her thoughts on the film. She told ANI, “Emergency is one of the most significant and darkest chapters in our history that young India needs to know. It is a crucial story and I want to thank my super-talented actors like late Satish ji, Anupam ji, Shreyas, Mahima, and Milind for embarking on this creative journey together. I am excited to bring this extraordinary episode from India’s history to the big screen. Jaihind!”
