Virat Kohli’s ‘Larger-Than-Life’ Statue Unveiled at the Iconic Times Square in NYC

Indian cricket star Virat Kohli’s influence has now extended beyond the cricket field and his home country. The United States has shown its admiration for the maverick batter by unveiling a life-size statue of Kohli at New York’s iconic Times Square.

The statue was revealed in a now-viral video, showcasing Kohli’s larger-than-life presence at one of the world’s most famous landmarks. This gesture highlights Kohli’s status as a cricketing legend and an indispensable member of Team India’s T20 World Cup 2024 lineup.

Kohli’s statue at Times Square is part of a promotional campaign by the mattress company Duroflex, where Kohli serves as a brand ambassador. Duroflex celebrated the unveiling with a post on X (formerly Twitter), stating: “Just Unveiled: A larger-than-life statue of Virat Kohli at the iconic Times Square. This King’s Duty, we are going global and making history! We’re delivering great sleep and great health to Virat Kohli.”

The statue has received overwhelming support from fans, with many proclaiming Kohli as the “GOAT” (Greatest of All Time) in the comments.

Meanwhile, Kohli continues to perform well for India, with the Super 8 live match between India and Australia kicking off in St Lucia. Despite concerns about rain, the match started on time, with Australia winning the toss and opting to bowl first. This game marks the first encounter between the two teams since India lost to Australia in the ODI World Cup Final.

Speculation is also growing about the future of the former Indian captain and the current captain, Rohit Sharma, with rumors suggesting this could be their last T20 World Cup before retirement. If true, it would mark the end of an era for Indian cricket.
