Actors Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal have officially tied the knot, and their marriage has become the talk of the town. The couple, who have been together for seven years, got married under the Special Marriage Act at Sonakshi’s residence in Mumbai. This significant milestone was marked by a civil ceremony attended by close family and friends, followed by the couple sharing their joy on social media.

After the ceremony, Sonakshi and Zaheer took to Instagram to jointly share their first photos from their intimate wedding ceremony. However, they decided to turn off the comment section on their posts due to immense trolling and negative comments regarding their inter-faith marriage. Despite the negativity, the couple’s happiness was evident in the beautiful photos they shared.

Parineeti Chopra was among the first to congratulate the newlyweds. In a heartfelt Instagram story, she wrote, “Congratulations you two! Welcome to the club. Wish you both all the happiness!”

The couple is now gearing up to celebrate their nuptials with a grand wedding reception at Bastian in Mumbai. The reception, scheduled for June 23, is expected to be a star-studded affair with numerous Bollywood personalities in attendance. Celebrities like Riteish Deshmukh, Genelia Deshmukh, Jackky Bhagnani, Rakul Preet Singh, and Diljit Dosanjh are expected to attend the bash, with fans hoping to see Salman Khan as well.

Zaheer’s father, Iqbal Ratansi, had previously confirmed that their marriage would not include Hindu or Muslim rituals. In a statement to the Free Press Journal, he said, “It will have neither Hindu nor Muslim rituals. It will be a civil marriage.” He further dismissed any speculation about Sonakshi converting to Islam, adding, “She is not converting, and that is for sure. Theirs is a union of hearts, and religion has no role to play whatsoever. I believe in humanity. God is called Bhagwan by Hindus and Allah by Muslims. But at the end of the day, we are all human beings. My blessings are with Zaheer and Sonakshi.”

In her first post after the wedding, Sonakshi indirectly addressed the trolling and negative comments. She wrote, “Today that love has guided us through all the challenges and triumphs… leading up to this moment… where with the blessings of both our families and both our gods… we are now man and wife.”

Sonakshi and Zaheer’s relationship has always been low-key, with both maintaining a private stance about their personal lives. However, their wedding has brought their love story into the spotlight, celebrating their bond and the years they have spent together. The wedding has also sparked a conversation about inter-faith marriages and the challenges that come with them.

As Sonakshi and Zaheer embark on this new journey, their marriage stands as a testament to their love and commitment.
