Intel Reports: 40 Foreign Terrorists Operating In Poonch-Rajouri Sectors, Security Tightened

Recent efforts by Pakistan-backed terrorist groups to revive activities south of the Pir Panjal ranges in the Jammu sector have revealed the presence of approximately 35-40 foreign terrorists operating in small teams, typically consisting of two to three members each. Sources within the security forces informed ANI that this assessment is based on intelligence inputs and ground operations.

These foreign terrorists, believed to be former members of Pakistan’s Special Services Group, have reportedly been attempting to rekindle terrorism in the Rajouri, Poonch, and Kathua sectors of the Jammu region over the past three years. Recent attacks targeting Hindu pilgrims and security forces in Reasi and Kathua have underscored their activities.

Security assessments in recent meetings have highlighted the necessity to bolster the second-tier counter-terrorism grid along the international border to thwart infiltration attempts. Efforts are underway to enhance the intelligence capabilities, both human and technical, in the area.

In response to the threat, the Indian Army has deployed additional troops and armored vehicles in the region. These forces, equipped with about 200 armored vehicles procured under emergency protocols, include Quick-Reaction Teams tasked with swift responses against terrorist infrastructure.

Authorities have reportedly authorized robust operations against such elements, indicating a readiness for decisive action against terrorist activities and support networks in the area.
