Haris Rauf Breaks Silence on “Indian Hi Hai Ye” Remark in Viral Video Featuring Him Charge at a Fan

Haris Rauf has spoken out about the incident where he charged towards a fan after a viral video depicted him in a heated exchange. In the video, Rauf and his wife were walking when comments were directed at them by individuals wearing Pakistan jerseys. Rauf was heard referring to the man as “Indian hi hai ye (he must be Indian),” to which the man responded, “Pakistani hoon (I am from Pakistan).”

Following the incident, Pakistani journalist Waseem Badami disclosed that he spoke with Rauf, who acknowledged that his remark about the fan being Indian was made impulsively. Badami quoted Rauf as saying, “He is from Pakistan. What I said was in the heat of the moment and I shouldn’t have said that.”

Several Pakistan cricketers came to Rauf’s defence after the video circulated, condemning the behaviour of fans. Hasan Ali tweeted for a respectful debate that considers players’ families and promotes peace and love for the game. Shadab Khan was more direct in his criticism, stating that personal attacks in front of players’ families are unacceptable and questioned how fans would feel if similarly targeted in their own situations.
