In the latest ICC T20I rankings, Afghanistan’s Mohammad Nabi ascended to the top spot among all-rounders, while India’s dynamic batter Suryakumar Yadav retained his position as the top-ranked batter. Afghanistan’s unbeaten streak in the ongoing T20 World Cup, with victories over Uganda and New Zealand in Group C clashes, has been instrumental in Nabi’s rise to the summit.
Nabi’s exceptional performance with both bat and ball, including two wickets against New Zealand in Guyana, propelled him to the top of the rankings, marking a significant shift in the rankings. Australia’s Marcus Stoinis also made a noteworthy leap, advancing three places to claim the second position, while Bangladesh’s Shakib Al Hasan, previously ranked number one, slid to fifth place.
Meanwhile, in the batter rankings, Suryakumar Yadav maintained his dominance at the top. Afghanistan’s opening batsman, Rahmanullah Gurbaz, achieved his career-best ranking, reaching the 12th spot. Gurbaz has been the standout performer in the T20 World Cup, amassing 156 runs from two innings. Pakistan’s Babar Azam and England’s Jos Buttler secured the third and fifth positions, respectively, in the latest rankings.
Australia’s Travis Head entered the top ten, climbing six places to claim the tenth position in the batter rankings. Moving to the bowlers’ rankings, England’s Adil Rashid leads the pack, followed by Sri Lanka’s Wanindu Hasaranga. Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan and Fazalhaq Farooqi occupy the third and fourth spots, respectively, while South Africa’s Anrich Nortje shares the fourth position with Farooqi.
Rashid Khan, the Afghanistan captain, has been in formidable form, claiming six wickets in two matches. His teammate, Fazalhaq Farooqi, leads the tournament’s wicket-takers with nine scalps in two games. Nortje follows closely as the second-highest wicket-taker with eight dismissals in the same number of matches.
Additionally, Bangladesh’s trio of Mustafizur Rahman, Taskin Ahmed, and Rishad Hossain made significant progress in the rankings, securing the 13th, 19th, and 30th positions, respectively.
