BJP’s recently elected first MP from Kerala’s Thrissur Suresh Gopi has recently refuted reports, which claimed, he doesn’t want to be a part of Modi’s cabinet and wants to be divested of his ministerial duties.

Earlier, Indian express reported, that Gopi in his interview to Delhi’s Malayalam TV channel revealed, that he might be divested of his duties, as he didn’t want to be part of central government.

‘I want to work as an MP. My stand was that I didn’t want it (Cabinet berth). I had told (the party) that I was not interested in it (Cabinet berth). I think I will be relieved soon,’ said Gopi.

Later, he said, he never said all of this and will clear the misconception after portfolio allocation.

However, he earlier expressed his displeasure for being part of Modi’s cabinet as he wants to work for his constituency and do films.

In addition, he asserted, that he can do more for the people as MP, rather than as minister.

‘Please do not confine me to a room. As an MP I can do the work of various ministries. I do not want to be a minister. There can be new revolutionary working platforms. All I want is that when I go with a project for the people of Kerala with determination, the ministries concerned should implement it.’ said Gopi to Reporters.

Meanwhile, the actor-cum-politician as BJP candidate won Kerala’s constituency Thrissur, with a margin of 74,000 votes, defeating CPI’s VS Sunil Kumar, this 2024 lok Sabha election.

Yesterday on Sunday, he was sworn-in as minister of state at Rashtrapati Bhavan along with other ministers.
