J-K LG Manoj Sinha Extends Rs 10 Lakh Ex-gratia for Reasi Terror Attack Victims’ Families

Jammu and Kashmir’s Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha declared on Monday that an ex-gratia of Rs 10 lakhs would be provided to the families of the deceased and Rs 50,000 each to the injured in the Reasi terror attack.

“A control room has been established by the district administration to offer all necessary aid. A joint security force temporary headquarters, comprising the J&K Police, Army, and CRPF, has been established at the site, and a search operation is underway to neutralize the perpetrators of the Reasi terror attack,” stated the LG’s office.

The rescue operations have concluded, and the injured have been taken to Naraina and Reasi District hospitals. LG Sinha personally visited the injured at the hospital. “The bus driver was attacked by the terrorists, causing the bus to veer off the road. Nine individuals lost their lives, and approximately 37 were injured. The rescue operation commenced yesterday.

The police, CRPF, and Army have launched a search operation,” said LG Sinha in a statement to reporters in Jammu. “Those responsible for this will face severe consequences. Our priority is to save the injured. We have decided to provide Rs 10 lakhs to the families of the deceased and Rs 50,000 to the injured,” he added.

Additionally, a team from the National Investigation Agency (NIA) is evaluating the situation in Reasi, and the NIA’s forensic team is collecting evidence. The incident occurred around 6:10 pm on Sunday when the bus, traveling from the Shiv Khori shrine to Katra, was targeted by terrorists in the Pouni area of Reasi district.

“Terrorists opened fire, causing the driver to lose control, and the bus plunged into a gorge,” according to officials. Survivors recounted the terrifying attack, with one stating, “After visiting Shiv Khori, bullets were fired at our bus while returning. The driver was shot, and some passengers were injured in the gunfire.”

Jammu and Kashmir police confirmed earlier in the day that at least two terrorists were involved in the attack, and a search operation is ongoing in the area.
