At 36, Andhra MP Ram Mohan Naidu to Become Youngest Cabinet Member

36-year-old Srikakulam MP Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu will swear in to become the youngest-ever member of the Narendra Modi-led Union Cabinet on Sunday. Ram Mohan Naidu’s Political Journey

Entering politics in 2012, Ram Mohan Naidu swiftly rose to prominence, securing a seat as MP from Andhra Pradesh’s Srikakulam in 2014 at just 26, making him the second youngest Member of the Parliament in the 16th Lok Sabha. His entry into politics followed the untimely death of his father, former Union Minister K. Yerran Naidu, in a road accident.

Background and Education

Ram Mohan Naidu is the son of K. Yerran Naidu, who was the youngest Cabinet Minister in 1996. He holds a degree in electrical engineering from Purdue University and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Long Island University. Initially drawn to a career in Singapore, Naidu returned to his roots in India to continue his father’s political legacy.

Lok Sabha Elections 2024 concluded on June 4, 2024, with the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) winning the elections with 291 seats. BJP-led NDA is all set to form government in the centre.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi submitted his resignation, along with that of the Union Council of Ministers, to President Draupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan on June 5.

On June 7, TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu, Janata Dal (United) leader Nitish Kumar, JD(S) MP-elect HD Kumaraswamy, and other NDA leaders supported the proposal to appoint Narendra Modi as the Leader of the alliance in Parliament at a crucial meeting of the bloc on Friday, following the Lok Sabha election results.

The swearing-in ceremony of PM Modi will take place on June 9, 2024 (Sunday) at 7:15 pm IST.
