Former Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is poised to reclaim his prominent role within Modi Cabinet 3.0. Following the recently concluded general election, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader secured victory from the Lucknow seat, triumphing over Samajwadi Party’s Ravidas Mehrotra by an impressive margin of approximately 1.35 lakh votes.
In the recent electoral contest, he garnered an impressive 6,12,709 votes, while his closest competitor, Ravidas, trailed with 4,77,550 votes. Notably, this victory marks Rajnath Singh’s third consecutive win in the fiercely contested Lucknow Lok Sabha constituency.
In the 2019 elections, Singh also secured the seat. However, this victory holds particular significance due to the BJP’s loss in Uttar Pradesh, a state that has traditionally been the party’s stronghold.
The Lucknow Lok Sabha constituency has remained a stronghold for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) since 1991, showcasing a consistent trend of electoral dominance and influence in the region’s political landscape.
Singh has also held significant roles such as the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, the national president of the BJP, and a Union Minister in the government led by Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
President Droupadi Murmu is scheduled to administer the oath of office and secrecy to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his cabinet ministers, with the ceremony set to take place at 7:15 pm on Sunday, at the grand Forecourt of the Rashtrapati Bhavan.
