Actor and Trinamool Congress (TMC) MLA Soham Chakraborty allegedly assaulted a restaurant owner in Kolkata’s New Town area, claiming the owner had used derogatory language against the party’s national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee. The incident occurred on Friday night, and although the restaurant owner denied the allegations, Chakraborty later apologized.

The altercation reportedly began when Chakraborty, who was shooting outside the restaurant, parked his car in a way that inconvenienced other customers. The restaurant owner asked Chakraborty’s security personnel to move the car, leading to a verbal argument and the alleged assault by Chakraborty.

Chakraborty claimed that the restaurant owner had used offensive language against Abhishek Banerjee, which provoked him to act. He admitted to slapping the owner multiple times and stated that he had informed the police about the incident.

The restaurant owner, on the other hand, refuted Chakraborty’s claims, stating that the actor had threatened to shut down his establishment. He alleged that Chakraborty had punched him and kicked him, despite his pleas for mercy.

The incident has sparked controversy, with the BJP criticizing the TMC for not taking action against Chakraborty. However, Chakraborty later apologized for his actions, stating that he had lost his temper after his security guards were attacked.

The police are investigating the matter, and Chakraborty’s actions have received widespread condemnation.
