The Union Health Ministry announced that India has vaccinated almost 16 lakh people since it started its inoculation campaign on 16 January.
The country’s recovery rate has also improved to 96.83 percent, accounted for by 15,948 new daily recoveries.
However, India also reported 14,849 new coronavirus cases and 155 deaths in 24 hours. As many as 1,53,339 people have died in total due to the disease so far.
Looking at the individual tally of the worst-affected states, Maharashtra›s coronavirus count increased by 2,752 fresh cases to reach 20,09,106. As the virus claimed 45 lives in the last 24 hours, the overall death toll reached 50,785 in the state. However, a total of 1,743 patients were also discharged following recovery. This took the overall recovery count in Maharashtra to 19,12,264. Maharashtra is now left with 44,831 active cases. The case recovery rate in the state is 95.18 percent while the case fatality rare is 2.53 percent.
Delhi recorded 185 fresh Covid-19 cases and 9 deaths, while the positivity rate rose marginally to stand at 0.26 percent. The national capital›s infection tally is now over 6.33 lakh and the death toll is 10,808.
Uttar Pradesh›s Covid-19 caseload mounted to 5,98,713 with 297 fresh infections while the death toll climbed to 8,617 as 8 more people succumbed to the disease. 30 fresh cases were reported in Lucknow. Odisha›s Covid-19 tally mounted to 3.34 lakh as 150 more people tested positive for the infection, while one new fatality pushed the state›s death toll to 1,905. The new cases were detected in 24 of the state›s 30 districts, with 89 reported from different quarantine centres, while the remaining 61 are local contact cases.
Andhra Pradesh›s Covid-19 count rose to 8.87 lakh as 158 fresh cases were reported in 24 hours. No deaths were reported. 155 patients also recovered in the state in a day. The active cases remain at 1,476 after a total of 8,78,387 recoveries and 7,147 deaths.
