Rajasthan to secure 1 or 2 ministerial posts in Modi 3.0 Cabinet

The country is witnes sing the trajectory of events form past two months. With this dynamically changing series of events since the result outcome, now everyone’s eyes are fixed on how many MPs will get a place from Rajasthan in the new cabinet. Last time the post of Lok Sabha Speaker and four ministers were from Rajasthan. One minister Kailash Chaudhary from the state has lost the election.
A significant reshuffle is expected in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s new team, with many new faces anticipated. This change comes as 16 ministers from the Modi government lost their seats in the recent elections, necessitating the induction of new MPs to replace them. In the coalition government, 15 to 20 ministerial positions are expected to go to allies.
The size of Modi’s third-term cabinet remains uncertain, with speculation about whether it will expand or stay limited to 50-55 members as before. If the latter, 30 to 40 new faces are likely to take the oath of office. Among the victorious are Arjun Ram Meghwal, Bhupendra Yadav, and Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, while Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla narrowly retained his seat.
The BJP’s performance in Rajasthan has been particularly disappointing, influenced by caste politics. Consequently, it’s expected that fewer leaders from Rajasthan will be included in the Union Cabinet. However, the inclusion of a Jat leader is deemed necessary, potentially giving Bhagirath Chaudhary, a second-term MP, a chance. A Jat MP is expected to be appointed as minister to balance caste equations, while former Chief Minister Vasundhara is also lobbying for her son Dushyant’s inclusion; meanwhile, Birla, Shekhawat, Meghwal, and Bhupendra Yadav face increasing challenges.
The final selection of MPs for the cabinet remains to be seen. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and former Union Minister Bhupendra Yadav might transition to organizational roles. With JP Nadda’s term as National President ending in June, a new party team will also be formed.
There is uncertainty regarding the cabinet positions for Arjun Ram Meghwal and Gajendra Singh Shekhawat. Another contender, PP Choudhary, who has previous ministerial experience, might be reappointed. Additionally, former Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje is advocating for her son, Dushyant Singh, to secure a ministerial position. Ultimately, it is expected that only one or two leaders from Rajasthan will make it into the cabinet this time.
