T20 World Cup 2024: Aaron Jones And Temba Bavuma Doppelgangers? Let’s See What Social Media Thinks

The USA cricket team made a spectacular debut on home soil in the ICC T20 World Cup, crushing Canada in a high-scoring encounter to claim a seven-wicket victory. Middle-order batter Aaron Jones stole the show with a blazing 94, featuring 10 sixes and 4 boundaries, guiding his team to successfully chase down the 195-run target. Jones became an overnight sensation with his stellar performance.

Fans were not only impressed by Jones’ powerful batting but also by his striking resemblance to South African cricketer Temba Bavuma. One fan humorously shared pictures of both players on X (formerly Twitter) with the caption, “Temba Bavuma got dropped from the SA T20 squad, couldn’t take that insult, did a hair transplant, went to the USA with name changed as Aaron Jones & smacks a 94*(40). Haters in the mud. Well done, Temba.”

Bavuma, a former captain, is not part of South Africa’s 15-member squad for the T20 World Cup. The comment section was filled with witty remarks, with one user writing, “Haters would say both of them are different persons.” Another fan called Bavuma the “Real Hustler.” Some pointed out the ongoing social media buzz about the similarity between the two players, while others noted the height difference, with one comment stating, “Aaron Jones is towering over Temba.. he is 5’11.” Bavuma led South Africa in the last ICC ODI World Cup hosted in India, and South Africa will start their campaign in the USA against Sri Lanka on June 3.

The USA qualified directly for the T20 World Cup as co-hosts along with the West Indies. A victory in the opening game will undoubtedly boost their confidence. The USA is placed in Group A, where they will face formidable teams like India, Pakistan, and Ireland, in addition to Canada, during the league stage.
