Ruchira Kamboj, the first Indian woman to serve as India’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York, announced her retirement on Saturday. Earlier in the day, she participated in a significant event focused on enhancing peacekeeping efforts, expressing pride in representing India’s leading role in sharing strategic thinking and best practices.
According to the Permanent Mission of India to the UN in New York, Kamboj assumed the position of PR/Ambassador of India to New York in August 2022. Her diplomatic journey began in Paris, France, and included significant roles in Delhi, New York, Cape Town, and London. She also served as India’s Chief of Protocol and Ambassador to UNESCO Paris, contributing significantly to multilateral diplomacy.
