Key Rules Changing From June 1: New Driving License Rules, Aadhaar Card And More

As June 1 approaches, several new regulations will come into effect, impacting various aspects of daily life. It is essential to stay informed about these changes, which involve LPG cylinder prices, bank holidays, Aadhaar updates, and new driving license rules.

New Driving License Rules

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has introduced new regulations for obtaining a driving license in India, effective June 1, 2024. Individuals will now have the option to take driving tests at private driving training centers instead of government Regional Transport Offices (RTOs). These private centers will be authorized to conduct tests and issue certifications for license eligibility. The new rules also aim to reduce pollution by phasing out around 900,000 old government vehicles and enforcing stricter car emission regulations.

Speeding fines will remain between ₹1,000 and ₹2,000. However, if a minor is caught driving, a hefty fine of ₹25,000 will be imposed. Additionally, the vehicle owner’s registration card will be canceled, and the minor will be barred from obtaining a license until they turn 25.

Aadhaar Card Update

Those planning to update their Aadhaar card can do so online until June 14. Online updates are free, but offline updates will incur a fee of ₹50 per update.

LPG Cylinder Prices

LPG cylinder prices are adjusted on the first of every month. On June 1, oil companies will announce new gas cylinder prices. In May, commercial cylinder prices were reduced, and it is anticipated that there may be further reductions in June. As usual, petrol and diesel prices may also change on June 1.

Bank Holidays in June

According to the Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) list of bank holidays, banks will be closed for 10 days in June, including Sundays and the second and fourth Saturdays. Additional holidays in June include Raja Sankranti and Eid-ul-Adha. It is advisable to check the holiday schedule before planning a visit to the bank.

These changes are set to take effect from June 1, making it crucial for individuals to stay updated and plan accordingly.
