Karnataka CM Urges PM Modi To Revoke MP Prajwal Revanna’s Diplomatic Passport

In a bold move addressing the ongoing scandal, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has penned a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, imploring him to annul the diplomatic passport of JD(S) MP Prajwal Revanna. This action comes amidst a Special Investigation Team (SIT) probe into allegations of sexual harassment against Revanna.

Siddaramaiah’s letter underscored the urgency of the matter, citing Revanna’s departure to Germany on April 27, 2024, using his diplomatic passport shortly after allegations surfaced. The Chief Minister expressed dismay over Revanna’s alleged abuse of diplomatic privileges to evade criminal proceedings.

The Karnataka CM emphasized the severity of the accusations against Revanna, highlighting charges including rape, sexual assault, and coercion to film sexual acts for intimidation purposes. Despite multiple notices and alerts issued against him, Revanna has managed to evade authorities, prompting Siddaramaiah to appeal for immediate action from the Central Government.

In response to Siddaramaiah’s plea, sources indicate that the Ministry of External Affairs has received a formal request from the Karnataka government for the cancellation of Revanna’s diplomatic passport. The matter is currently under review.

This development comes amidst an SIT investigation into Revanna and his father, HD Revanna, following allegations of sexual harassment and criminal intimidation by a former household employee.

The plea from the Karnataka CM signals a pressing need for accountability and justice in the face of serious allegations, urging swift and decisive action to ensure Revanna’s return to India for legal proceedings.
