Singapore Airlines Flight Plummets 6,000 Feet In 3 Minutes Due To Severe Turbulence

Passengers on Singapore Airlines flight SQ321 endured a terrifying experience when the plane rapidly descended 6,000 feet in just three minutes. The incident took place on Tuesday during the flight from London to Singapore. Data from FlightRadar24, reviewed by The Associated Press, highlights the alarming details of this descent.

The Boeing 777-300ER had been flying at 37,000 feet (11,300 meters) when it abruptly dropped to 31,000 feet (9,400 meters) in a mere three minutes. The aircraft remained at this altitude for less than ten minutes before making an emergency landing in Bangkok, approximately half an hour later.

This harrowing event, which occurred as cabin crew were serving breakfast, tragically resulted in one passenger’s death and injuries to 30 others. Following the emergency, the pilots diverted the flight to Bangkok for an urgent landing.

The sudden drop happened over the Andaman Sea, near Myanmar. At the time, the aircraft issued a “squawk code” of 7700, an international emergency signal. The severe turbulence and emergency landing deeply affected passengers and crew, who were left to deal with the tragic consequences.
