Delhi: Fire Erupts In A Four-Story Building In Jyoti Nagar

New Delhi: A fire erupted in a four-story building located in the Durga Puri Extension area of Jyoti Nagar, during the early hours of Monday. The building accommodates a garment company showroom in its basement. While all occupants were safely evacuated, one individual named Jitender, also known as Chotu, was reported as missing.

As per reports, the police team received a PCR call at 6:01 am, alerting them to a fire incident at the Raymond Showroom near the 100-foot road in the Durga Puri Extension area of Jyoti Nagar. Upon receiving this information, the local police promptly dispatched nearly 20 fire tenders to the scene.

As per police statements, the property, constructed on a 150-yard plot, is owned by Padam Singh and his brother Sanjay, who are the sons of the late Lt. Om Parkash. In addition to the showroom, the building also accommodated a godown on its first floor. The second and third floors served as residential areas, with quarters constructed on them.

AK Jaiswal, Divisional Fire Officer said, “Around 6.05 am, we got a call regarding fire and our team with two sky-lifts and 22 fire tenders immediately reached to the spot. Simultaneously, we have launched a search operation for evacuation of the residents.”

According to the latest updates, 10 fire tenders remained stationed at the site. This story is still developing, and additional details are pending.
