Keeping in view the prevailing severe heatwave conditions and temperature crossing 46 degree, the state government has declared holidays in schools and an order issued pertaining to the same directing the concerned officials stating that Government has decided that the Deputy Commissioners shall assess the weather situation in their respective districts and have been given the authority to all the district Deputy Commissioners to declare holidays in schools. They can declare holidays in the schools of their district in consultation with the DEO and DEEO. The department has given the authority decide closure of schools (Government and private) on any particular day/days.

These powers will remain with the Deputy Commissioners till 31 May only. Furthermore, the officials have been directed to initimate the office about the decision taken in this regard at email id. academiccellhry@gmail.com and psdsestaff@yahoo.com.in

In this row, it is pertinent to mention that exercising their powers , the DCs in Sirsa, Charkhi Dadri and Kaithal have closed all schools stating that after assessing the prevailing weather situation and ongoing heat wave conditions, it has been decided to close all schools (Government and Private) in the aforementioned districts for academic purpose with effect from 20 May till further orders. This decision is aimed at minimizing exposure to the extreme heat wave conditions and ensuring the well-being of all students and school staff.

The concerned officials have been directed to ensure that all schools under their jurisdiction are communicated of this decision immediately. In addition, necessary instructions should be given to the schools to communicate this order to students and parents positively.

Schools should also advise parents to keep children hydrated and indoors as much as possible during this period. Besides that , they are directed to ensure strict compliance of this order. Further intimation will be provided in due course of time.
