The FIR filed by the Delhi police, based on a complaint by Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal against an aide of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, reveals shocking details of the alleged incident.
According to the FIR, Maliwal alleges that Arvind Kejriwal’s Personal Secretary, Bibhav Kumar, “slapped” her “at least seven to eight times,” “brutally dragged” her, and “kicked” her in her “chest, stomach, and pelvis area.” Maliwal recorded her statement before the magistrate under Section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure.
Detailing the events of May 13 at Chief Minister Kejriwal’s residence, Maliwal stated that she had gone there and waited in the drawing room to meet Bibhav Kumar. When he entered the room, he allegedly started screaming and abusing her without provocation, eventually physically assaulting her.
Maliwal described being slapped repeatedly, pushed to the ground, and kicked while pleading for help. Despite informing Bibhav Kumar about being on her period and in severe pain, the assault continued. She managed to call the emergency number 112, prompting Bibhav to threaten her further.
After the assault, Maliwal was allegedly asked to leave the premises by Bibhav and security personnel. Despite her condition, she was forced to leave and later sought assistance from the police.
Maliwal expressed deep trauma and pain following the incident, highlighting the physical and emotional toll it has taken on her. She requested strong action in her complaint, emphasizing the unprovoked nature of the attack.
The FIR was filed under several sections of the Indian Penal Code, including attempt to commit culpable homicide, punishment for wrongful restraint, assault or use of criminal force against a woman with intent to disrobe, criminal intimidation, and insult to the modesty of a woman.
