Dust Storm, Thunderstorm to Hit Delhi-NCR After Days of Scorching Heat

After several scorching days of heat, a massive dust storm struck Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR). The India Meteorological Department (IMD) had previously predicted strong winds and some light rain later in the evening. The peak temperature recorded in Delhi this summer reached 42 degrees Celsius earlier this week.

Previously, the IMD had issued a statement indicating the likelihood of a dust storm, accompanied by thunder and rain, along with strong winds ranging from 50 to 70 kilometres per hour, affecting not only Delhi and NCR but also surrounding areas such as Loni Dehat, Hindon AF Station, Ghaziabad, Indirapuram, Chhapraula, Noida, Dadri, Greater Noida, Gurugram, Faridabad, Manesar, Ballabhgarh, Gohana, Gannaur, Sonipat, Rohtak, Kharkhoda in Haryana, Baraut, Bagpat, and Khekra in Uttar Pradesh. Additionally, lighter rain or drizzle was expected in areas like Kaithal, Narwana, Rajaund, Assandh, Safidon, Barwala, Jind, Hisar, Hansi, Siwani, Meham, and Tosham in Haryana over the next two hours.
