Kareena Kapoor Khan believes that the box office triumph of her recent film “Crew” signifies the diminishing gender bias in the film industry. She expressed her happiness over the heist comedy breaking barriers typically associated with female-led films.

Crew,” featuring Tabu and Kriti Sanon alongside Kareena, narrates the story of three air hostesses taking charge of their destiny after their airline faces bankruptcy. Directed by Rajesh A Krishnan, the movie premiered on March 29 and has grossed over Rs 150 crore.

Looking ahead, Kareena stated her commitment to projects that challenge conventional norms. She emphasized the importance of impactful storytelling in entertainment.

“Films are a form of entertainment, and ‘Crew’ serves as an example with its powerful message. It’s gratifying to see that today, there’s a diminishing gender bias. Breaking norms is essential,” Kareena shared in an interview with PTI.

She added, “The success of ‘Crew,’ with its three female leads, surpassing Rs 150 crore at the box office, validates this. It’s not about whether it’s a hero or a heroine leading a film; it’s about performance and content. We aim to continue this trend. I will always opt for roles that captivate, yet entertain. I’m thrilled that ‘Crew’ has initiated conversations about women challenging box office conventions.”

In another development, UNICEF India appointed Kareena as its new National Ambassador. Reflecting on her decade-long association with the organization, Kareena noted personal growth from her interactions with children, teachers, and parents across India.

“As a Celebrity Advocate for UNICEF since 2014, I’ve had transformative experiences. Being appointed as the National Ambassador is an honor. My journey with UNICEF has been enriching, filled with remarkable memories,” she expressed.

Kareena emphasized her commitment to utilizing her celebrity status to advocate for children’s rights, education, and health.

“As a public figure, I recognize the influence I have. I aim to leverage my voice to garner support for children’s causes nationwide. Parents play a crucial role in understanding their children’s needs. I’m proud to have a platform and intend to utilize it to advocate for children’s rights,” Kareena affirmed.

She underscored the significance of holistic child development, beyond traditional academics, emphasizing the importance of nurturing individual skills and talents.

“Child development extends beyond academic learning. Encouraging children to explore various skills and arts is crucial. My focus will encompass all aspects of child development,” Kareena emphasized.

Looking ahead, Kareena is eagerly awaiting the release of her upcoming films, including “Singham Again” and “The Buckingham Murders,” where she plays a detective. She expressed enthusiasm for portraying strong, women-centric characters in these projects.
