‘Lost his mind’ Says BJP Leader Ajay Alok Slams Channi’s ‘Stuntbaazi’ Remark

BJP national spokesperson Ajay Alok criticized former Punjab Chief Minister and Congress Working Committee Member Charanjit Singh Channi on Monday for his purported remarks concerning the recent terror attack incident in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch, asserting that Channi has “lost his mind.”

Ajay Alok targeted the Congress party for the comments made by the CWC member, describing it as part of their “culture.”

“Charanjit Singh Channi has lost his mind. Does it suit a former Chief Minister to make such disgusting statements? Only the Congress party can engage in such petty politics over the country’s jawans. It is their culture,” remarked Ajay Alok while speaking to ANI on Monday.

An Indian Air Force personnel was killed, and four others were injured in the terror attack in the Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday (May 5) evening.

In response to the attack occurring amid the Lok Sabha elections, former CM Charanjit Singh Channi had alleged on Sunday that it was “pre-planned” and suggested that such “stunts” were orchestrated to benefit the BJP in the polls.

“This is stuntbaazi. When elections come, such stunts are done to make the BJP win. These are pre-planned attacks, there is no truth in them,” stated Channi while addressing reporters in Punjab.

BJP leader Sushil Kumar Rinku condemned the former CM’s remarks and demanded an apology from him to the entire country.

“Saying such things about soldiers who sacrifice themselves for the country is an insult to the armed forces, the country, and the patriotism of each soldier. So, I condemn this in the strongest terms. He should apologize to the entire country for his statement,” remarked the former AAP legislator.

Union Minister Anurag Thakur strongly criticized Channi’s remarks and questioned the Congress about the terror attacks that occurred during its tenure in the past. He also demanded an apology from top Congress leaders, including former party chief Sonia Gandhi, for Channi’s remarks.

“I have a question for Congress: Were the 1962, 1965, and 1971 wars fought to win elections? On such a ridiculous statement, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, Sonia Gandhi, and Rahul Gandhi should apologize… They question the ability of our forces… How low will Congress stoop? Will Congress insult our Bravehearts for the sake of winning elections?” remarked Thakur while addressing reporters on Sunday.

Meanwhile, security has been intensified in the Poonch district following the attack incident, with security forces conducting regular vehicle checks in the area.

Voting in Jammu and Kashmir is taking place in five phases, and polling in Anantnag-Rajouri is scheduled for May 7 in the third phase.

In 2019, the opposition had alleged that the BJP “exploited” the 2019 Pulwama terror attack, in which 40 CRPF personnel were killed by terrorists. It was also alleged that the subsequent air strike at Balakot was carried out to benefit the BJP’s performance in the Lok Sabha elections that year.
