A video circulating on social media showed a vada pav vendor in Delhi appearing to be ‘arrested’ by law enforcement. However, the Delhi police clarified that the woman, identified as Chandrika Dixit, also known as the ‘vada pav’ girl, was not arrested, and no charges were pressed against her.

Chandrika Dixit operates a food stand in the Mangolpuri neighborhood of outer Delhi. A recent video shared by Dixit depicted a confrontation between herself and local residents during a community feast near her food stall. The feast drew a large crowd, leading to traffic congestion in the area, according to officials.

Following complaints from local residents about the traffic disruption, a police team arrived at the scene and escorted Dixit to the police station.

The police clarified, “When there was a huge crowd at her cart and a complaint was made against her, at that time she was detained for some time. There was no case registered against the vada pav seller, and she was not arrested.”
