The Great Indian Kapil Show renewed for second season? Kiku Sharda Shares an Update

Archana Puran Singh recently shared an Instagram story hinting at the conclusion of filming for Kapil Sharma’s “The Great Indian Kapil Show” on Netflix. This surprised fans as the show premiered on March 30 and has only released five episodes so far. However, comedian Kiku Sharda clarified that the show has been renewed for a second season and the filming break is temporary.

The last episode of the first season was shot on May 1, with five episodes currently streaming on Netflix, the latest featuring Kapil hosting Aamir Khan. Kiku revealed that eight more episodes are scheduled to be released in the coming weeks, with the next one featuring Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol. Following this, Kapil will take a short break before returning with the second season.

“We have done 13 episodes, and the second season will come out soon. We have just wrapped up the first season. It was always meant to be like this. We have already planned the next season, and it will come out soon. There won’t be a very huge gap,” Kiku told News18.

Kiku also mentioned that the show’s makers are experimenting with a new format for the OTT audience. “On television, it used to be longer, but it is about different formats. This is also interesting. There will be a short gap now, and the second season will be back soon. It sounds like a wrap because we make it look like it. But it is temporary. We will be functioning soon again.”

“The Great Indian Kapil Show” premiered on Netflix with Ranbir Kapoor, Neetu Kapoor, and Riddhima Kapoor Sahni as the first guests. The show also saw Kapil Sharma and Sunil Grover reuniting after their infamous rift. Subsequent episodes featured cricketers Rohit Sharma and Shreyas Iyer, Imtiaz Ali, Parineeti Chopra, Diljit Dosanjh, Vicky Kaushal and his brother Sunny, and Aamir Khan as guests.
