India’s Covid-19 caseload increased to 1,05,12,093 with 16,946 infections being reported in the last 24 hours, while recoveries have surged to 1,01,46,763. The death toll has increased to 1,51,727 with 198 new fatalities.

The national capital recorded 340 fresh Covid-19 cases and four deaths in the last 24 hours, the daily fatality count dropping to a single digit after several months, even as the positivity rate slipped to 0.48 per cent. This is also the eleventh time the daily count stood below the 500-mark in January. The infection tally in the city stood at over 6.31 lakh and the death toll mounted to 10,722 with four new fatalities.

Maharashtra’s Covid-19 caseload rose to 19,81,623 as it recorded 3,579 new infections. The state also reported 70 deaths during the day, taking the overall death toll to 50,291. As many as 3,309 patients were discharged from hospitals, pushing the tally of recovered people to 18,77,588. There are now 52,558 active cases in Maharashtra. Meanwhile, Mumbai reported 607 new cases in the last 24 hours, which pushed its overall case count to 3,01,081, while its death toll rose to 11,221 with nine new deaths.

The Covid-19 death toll in Uttar Pradesh rose to 8,543 with 14 more fatalities, while 506 new cases pushed the infection tally to 5,95,142. The number of active cases in the state stands at 10,080, of which 3,746 are under home isolation. So far, 5,76,519 people have recovered from the infection and have been discharged from hospitals.

Haryana reported six more fatalities due to Covid-19 as the death toll rose to 2,972 while 187 new cases pushed the state’s infection tally to 2,65,803. There are 2,266 active cases in the state and 2,60,565 people have so far been discharged after recovery. The state’s recovery rate stands at 98.03%.
