BSF, Punjab Police recover China made drones in border area
BSF in collaboration with Punjab Police have intercepted and recovered two drones along the border area of Amritsar, thwarting potential smuggling attempts. The recovered drones, identified as China-made DJI Mavic 3 Classic models, were found in separate incidents in farming fields near villages Hardo Rattan and Daoke in Amritsar District.
According to official statements, the joint search operations on April 21 were initiated based on intelligence indicating drone presence in the region. BSF and Punjab Police conducted coordinated efforts leading to the successful retrieval of the drones, highlighting the ongoing vigilance against illicit activities along the border.
These interceptions come in the wake of heightened surveillance efforts, with recent incidents indicating attempts at smuggling contraband across the border using drones. On April 20, a drone carrying three packets of suspected heroin was seized in the Ferozepur border area.
The BSF intelligence wing received specific information about the drone and its payload in Ferozepur District. Subsequent search operations resulted in the recovery of the drone along with the narcotics, weighing approximately 2.710 kg. Additional items, including a torch and an illuminating green-colored small ball attached to the drone, were also found.
Authorities have underscored the importance of intelligence-sharing and swift action in countering such smuggling attempts. The successful recovery of drones and contraband signifies the proactive measures taken by security forces to maintain border integrity and curb illegal activities.
These incidents serve as a reminder of the evolving challenges faced by security agencies, emphasizing the need for continuous vigilance and advanced technological solutions to counter emerging threats along the borders.
