Lok Sabha Elections 2024: PM Modi addresses rally in Amroha, UP today

As voting in 102 parliamentary constituencies for the first phase of the Lok Sabha Elections 2024 gets off on April 19, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is preparing for another campaign drive in Western Uttar Pradesh. PM Modi held a rally in in Amroha, Uttar Pradesh.

While addressing a public rally in Amroha, Uttar Pradesh, Prime Minister Narendra Modi says “I have just been given another identity of Amroha-Dholak and the beat of the Dholak resonates far and wide. With the efforts of CM Yogi Adityanath, the BJP government has recognized the ‘Dholak’ of Amroha all over the world by giving it a GI tag…”

Having already addressed three rallies in western Uttar Pradesh, namely in Meerut, Saharanpur, and Pilibhit, the Prime Minister is focusing on the eight seats in Western Uttar Pradesh that are up for voting in the first phase on Friday. These seats include Saharanpur, Bijnor, Kairana, Muzaffarnagar, Nagina, Moradabad, Rampur, and Pilibhit.

Scheduled for a rally in Amroha, Western Uttar Pradesh, on Friday, the Prime Minister’s visit is significant as Amroha, slated for the second phase on April 26, was one of the 16 parliamentary seats that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) lost in the 2019 general elections. Contesting again in 2024, Kunwar Danish Ali, who won the seat in 2019 on a BSP ticket, is now a Congress-SP candidate, while the BJP has nominated Devendra Nagpal.

Following PM Modi’s rally, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and Samajwadi Party Chief Akhilesh Yadav are expected to participate in the INDIA bloc’s campaigning in Amroha on April 20.

Subsequently, the Prime Minister will address rallies in Hathras and Aligarh Lok Sabha constituencies on April 22, both of which were won by the BJP in 2019. Anoop Valmiki replaces the sitting MP Rajveer Singh Diler from Hathras, while Satish Gautam is contesting again from Aligarh.

PM Modi’s public meetings in Agra and Fatehpur Sikri on April 25 will follow the rallies in Hathras and Aligarh. SP Singh Baghel, a sitting MP from Agra and a Union minister of state, is the BJP candidate from Agra, while Raj Kumar Chahar is contesting from Fatehpur Sikri.

Additionally, rallies in Bareilly, Aonla, and Shahjahanpur are scheduled for April 25. Notably, discontent arose in Bareilly after the BJP denied a Lok Sabha ticket to Santosh Gangwar, a former minister and the sitting MP. Gangwar’s supporters staged a protest over the alleged insult to him by Bareilly mayor Umesh Gautam.
