In a recent blow to the Congress party in Madhya Pradesh, a number of its members switched allegiance to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the Ujjain district on Wednesday. These Congress members were inducted into the BJP in the presence of Chief Minister Mohan Yadav at the district’s BJP office.

While speaking to ANI, CM Mohan Yadav expressed, “I am immensely happy about the fact that through the working style of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, our family (BJP) is expanding every day. Today, Congress Rural District President of Ratlam, Kailash Patidar along with his workers joined the BJP. Some congress workers from Ujjain also took the membership on the occasion,”.

He further added, “They (newly joined BJP leaders) have decided to move on the path of development. I assure them that they will be respected in the BJP family; the party will also work on the suggestions given by them”.

Earlier today, in a statement to ANI, Chief Minister Yadav conveyed his assurance of securing all 29 parliamentary seats in the state in the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections, “I am hopeful that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the kind of atmosphere that is being felt everywhere, people are trusting BJP and PM Modi. We will win all 29 Lok Sabha seats in the state with a huge majority and ‘Abki baar 400 paar’,” he stated.

The Lok Sabha elections in Madhya Pradesh are scheduled to take place in four phases. The initial phase of voting is set for April 19, with subsequent phases on April 26, May 7, and May 13. Madhya Pradesh, with its 29 Lok Sabha constituencies, ranks as the sixth-largest state for parliamentary representation. Of these constituencies, 10 are reserved for Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST), while the other 19 are general seats.

During the 2019 Lok Sabha Elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) achieved a significant triumph in Madhya Pradesh, securing 28 of the 29 available seats. The Indian National Congress (INC) succeeded in winning just a single seat.
