PM Modi Set to Rally in Bihar’s Nawada

With just two weeks remaining until the initial phase of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to hold a public gathering in Bihar’s Nawada on Sunday to appeal to the voters of the region. A significant turnout is anticipated at the rally.

This marks the PM’s second visit within a week.

In the first phase of the Lok Sabha elections on April 19, voting for Nawada will occur, with the BJP nominating Vivek Thakur for the seat. Vivek Thakur, the son of former union minister CP Thakur, will face off against RJD candidate Shrawan Kushwaha. Chirag Paswan, National President of Lok Janshakti Party and a part of the BJP-led NDA, expressed confidence in the alliance’s ability to secure victory across all 40 parliamentary seats in the state.

“It’s not just Bihar, but the whole country and even the world have full faith in PM Modi’s guarantee…On one side, we have PM’s guarantee and on the other side, we have a strong alliance (NDA), which assure that we are going to win 40/40 seats in Bihar…” Paswan said.

Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary stated, “We welcome PM Modi to the land of Bihar.”

Previously, PM Modi visited Jamui on April 4th and delivered a speech at the rally. He urged the voters to support Arun Bharti, the candidate of NDA’s ally in the state, Lok Janshakti Party (Ramvilas).

The Mahagathbandhan (Grand Alliance), the opposition coalition in Bihar comprising Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), Congress, and Left parties, recently revealed that the RJD, its principal component, will contest 26 out of the state’s 40 Lok Sabha seats, including Purnia, in the forthcoming elections.

The Congress will compete for nine seats, while the CPI (ML) will contest on three seats, with the CPI and CPI (M) each vying for one seat.

Bihar will undergo polling across seven phases. The first phase will occur on April 19, followed by the second phase on April 26, the third phase on May 7, the fourth phase on May 13, the fifth phase on May 20, the sixth phase on May 25, and finally, the seventh phase on June 1.

During the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the NDA, comprising BJP, JDU (Janata Dal-United), and LJP (Lok Janshakti Party), clinched victory by leading on 39 out of 40 seats. In contrast, the Mahagathbandhan, led by RJD (Rashtriya Janata Dal), INC (Indian National Congress), and RLSP (Rashtriya Lok Samta Party), secured only one seat.

The Lok Sabha Elections 2024 are scheduled to take place in seven phases beginning on April 19, with vote counting slated for June 4.
