Since the code of conduct has come into force after the announcement of forthcoming Lok Sabha polls and in wake of this. Amidst the preparations for forthcoming assembly polls in Haryana, political stalwarts are leaving no stone unturned to strengthen their inheritors as well as to ensure the longevity of their political dynasties. Haryana, which could be termed as the capital of dynastic politics, is witnessing new political developments in this regard. The prominent political families in Haryana include Hooda, Chautalas and Bishnois having rich legacy on the state politics. Haryana is home to several prominent political dynasties dating back at least three generations, even four and after the announcement of polls, all political families are gearing up to ensure the bright political career of their inheritors.

In terms of dynasty politics, a new political development surfaced in the state after Brijendra Singh , former IAs and son of Chaudhry Birender Singh joined the congress bidding a farewell to the saffron Bhartiya Janta Party in a bid to fulfill his political ambitions. It is pertinent to mention that Birender Singh’s family is one the dominant as well as prominent political families in the state and after the BJP denied Lok Sabha ticket to his son Brijender Singh, he is trying to get a shot in the arm so that he can establish his son in the state politics. Brijender Singh is believed to be fielded by the Congress either from Hisar or Sonipat constituency It is pertinent to mention that Brijender Singh had contested the parliamentary elections from Hisar seat successfully in 2019. In a bid to ensure the bright political career of his son, he was constantly pressurizing BJP to break the alliance with JJP as Birender Singh and the Chautala family vie to contest the Uchana assembly and Hisar parliamentary seat. In recent times, father-son duo were facing hiccups in the BJP

Similarly, former Chief Minister and Congress heavyweight Bhupendra Singh Hooda who has uniteral hold in the party is on toes to ensure the bright political future of his son Deepender Hooda who could not survive Lok Sabha battle 2019 losing it to BJP stalwart Arvind Sharma. Since Bhupender Singh has made it clear that Deepender will contest Lok Sabha polls, all are eyeing on the same. However, in view of the prevailing political scenario, it would not be less than a cakewalk for Deepender to mark victory. Citing his unilateral hold in Haryana Congress, the arch rivals including Kumari Selja, Randeep Surjewala and Kiran Chaudhary are accusing Hooda of neglecting other leaders so that he can establish his son Deepender.

Likewise, the family of former Chief Minister Bhajan Lal also emerges as one of the dominant political families trying to regain its golden era. Third generation of the family has entered the state politics Bhavay Bishnoi, grandson of Bhajan Lal and son of Kuldeep Bishnoi succeeded in emerging victorious on Adampur seat after winning the polls on the ticket of saffron BJP. Kuldeep was believed to be pretty hopeful about appointing his son cabinet minister in the recently formed BJP government but contrary to expectations, Bhavay was denied the same. Kuldeep has been suffering back to back blows as after his son was a berth in the state cabinet, Kuldeep has not been inducted in the list of star campaigners in Rajasthan. He is believed to be upset with BJP as the uncertainty still prevails pertaining to the political future of his son Bhavya Bishnoi.

Similarly, the Chautala family needs no introduction in the state as well as national politics. Following the widened and difference, Chautala family is divided into Ajay and Abhay factions, sons of fivetime Chief Minister OP Chautala. OP Chautala and his son Abhay Chautala are currently marginalized in the state politics of the state trying to bring their political exile from power to an end Abhay’s sons Karan and Arjun have also not been able to establish themselves in the politics of the state. In such a situation, Abhay Chautala is in toes to bring the golden era of the party back as we as to ensure the bright future of his sons which does not seem a cakewalk in wake of ongoing political scenario. On the other hand, OP Chautala’s elder son Ajay Chautala who formed the Jannayak Janta Party after the separation in the Chautala family, seems in a better position politically to some extent. But recently his son Dushyant who held the portfolio of Deputy Chief Minister in the coalition government , had to quit as Deputy CM after the BJP decided to quit the alliance citing the weakened position of the JJP.

Political experts are of the opinion that it was a huge setback to JJP and the family of Ajay Chautala. Besides, Digvijay Singh, younger son of Ajay Chautala has entirely failed to prove his mettle in state politics so far. In wake of this, it is clearly evident that both factions of the Chautala family are on toes to ensure the bright future of their inheritors.

The family of former Chief Minister Bansi Lal is also among the dominating political families in the state. Kiran Chaudhary, daughter-in-law of Bansi Lal and a Congress MLA from Tosham, has been marginalized in her own party and struggling to survive within the party for a long time. She is on toes to ensure the political future of her daughter Shruti Chaudhary, third generation of the family who holds the portfolio of the state party working president. She faced a debacle in Lok Sabha polls held in 2019. Since Hooda has the unilateral hold in the state Congress, it seems an uphill task for Kiran Chaudhary to strengthen her position as well as establish her daughter in state politics. In this row, it is worth mentioning that five time MP and the Union Minister of the State, Rao Inderjeet is also on toes to get her daughter ticket but has failed so far.
