6,362 young voters will cast their vote for the first time in Panchkula

The Sabha constituency will exercise their franchise in the voting to be held on 25th May, which includes 2 lakh 22 thousand 159 male voters, 2 lakh 458 female voters, and 25 transgender voters. Additionally, 6,362 young voters in the age group of 18-19 years in the district will cast their votes for the first time.

Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer Sushil Sarwan said that applications to include the names of new voters in the list will be taken until April 25, 2024. Eligible individuals will have to apply in person. The District Election Officer said that 424 polling booths have been established in the district, including 218 polling stations in Kalka and 206 polling stations in Panchkula.

Sushil Sarwan said that there are 1 lakh 96 thousand 227 voters in the Kalka assembly constituency, including 1 lakh 2 thousand 743 men, 93 thousand 466 women, and 18 transgender voters. There are 2 lakh 26 thousand 415 voters in the Panchkula assembly constituency, including 1 lakh 19 thousand 416 men, 1 lakh 6 thousand 992 women, and 7 transgenders.

The District Election Officer said that in the Kalka assembly constituency, there are 3,213 voters in the age group of 18-19, 36,400 voters in the age group of 20-29, 47,174 voters in the age group of 30-39, 40,411 voters in the age group of 40-49, and 31,065 voters in the age group of 50-59. The voters include 21,788 voters in the 60-69 age group, 10,999 voters in the 70-79 age group, and 5,177 voters above 80 years of age. He said that in the Panchkula assembly constituency, there are 3,149 voters in the age group of 18-19, 35,044 voters in the age group of 20-29, 50,101 voters in the age group of 30-39, 48,737 voters in the age group of 40-49, 37,991 voters in the age group of 50-59, 27,209 voters in the age group of 60-69, 16,281 voters in the age group of 70-79, and 7,903 voters above 80 years of age.

Sushil Sarwan said that there are 2299 disabled voters in the district, including 1143 voters in the Kalka Assembly and 1156 voters in the Panchkula Assembly. He informed that all necessary arrangements, including wheelchairs, will be made at polling stations for disabled voters. Additionally, arrangements will be made to transport disabled voters from home to the polling station and back home for those unable to come to the polling station. Similarly, for the first time, elderly people above 85 years of age will be able to vote from home upon their demand.”
