When technology meets coffee!

We spoke to an expert to understand how technology is influencing the instant coffee industry!

From new brewing methods to smart coffee machines that create barista-quality instant coffee at home, the coffee industry is seeing massive and impressive changes!

Technology is playing a pivotal role in shaping the future of the instant coffee industry, offering consumers greater convenience, quality, and customization options than ever before. In the current era, technology has become of utmost importance to scale and grow.

To understand more on the juxtaposition of coffee with technology, we spoke to Mr. Rajat Agarwal, CEO, Barista Coffee. He shares, “We have noted significant advancement in the development of new brewing methods tailored for instant coffee production. Traditional methods often involve freeze-drying or spray-drying, which can sometimes compromise flavour and aroma. However, with advancements in technology, manufacturers are implementing new techniques such as freeze-drying under reduced pressure or using advanced spray-drying processes, resulting in instant coffee that better retains the freshness, aroma, and flavour of the original coffee beans”.

In-home consumption is a significant part of the coffee consumption in India and accounts for 80% of the coffee consumed. Smart coffee machines are driving the change by allowing consumers to create barista-quality instant coffee at home with just the touch of a button. These machines are equipped with advanced features such as precise temperature control, customizable brewing settings and automated milk frothing capabilities.

Agarwal adds, “Integration of connectivity features into these smart machines enable users to control and customize their coffee-making process remotely via smartphone apps. Users can adjust brewing parameters, schedule brewing times, and even receive notifications when their coffee is ready, providing unparalleled convenience and flexibility”.

With continued innovation, we can expect to see even more exciting developments that further enhance the instant coffee experience for coffee lovers around the world.
