The prestigious Media Federation of India (MFI) and Public Relations Council of India (PRCI) jointly bestowed dual honors upon PGIMER, underscoring its commitment to excellence in healthcare and public relations during their 5th Entrepreneur and Achiever Award 2024 held here today.

H.E. Acharya Devvrat, Hon’ble Governor of Gujarat, bestowed this distinct honour of Achiever’s Award for Excellence in Healthcare on Prof. (Dr.) Rakesh Kapoor, Prof. & Head, Department of Radiotherapy at PGIMER & Founder Director Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital and Research centre (a Unit of Tata Memorial Centre Mumbai).

Saryu D Madra, Media Consultant at ROTTO, PGIMER, has been lauded with the prestigious Achiever’s Award for Excellence in Public Relations, recognizing her remarkable dedication to bolstering and preserving the institute’s public image.

Prof. (Dr.) Rakesh Kapoor is an eminent figure in the field of Radiation Oncology, whose contributions have not only advanced cancer care but also reshaped medical education and research initiatives. Dr. Kapoor’s journey is marked by a relentless pursuit of excellence and an unwavering commitment to the fight against cancer.

Notably, Dr. Kapoor’s impact extends far beyond the confines of his clinical and academic roles. He has been a driving force in establishing cancer centers, serving as the Founder Director of the Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital & Research Center in Punjab (under TMC, DAE, Govt. of India), and advising government initiatives for tertiary cancer centers, exemplifying his commitment to extending cancer care to underserved regions. Beyond clinical practice, Dr. Kapoor is a dedicated educator and researcher, disseminating education in the country as Chairman of Indian College of Radiation Oncology.

In addition to being President of GIOS ( Gastrointestinal Oncology Society), Dr Kapoor is an esteemed member of various national and international academic bodies including ESTRO / ASCO and multiple professional associations and editorial boards.

Through these important affiliations, Dr. Kapoor continues to shape the landscape of Radiation Oncology through his research, teaching, and leadership. His unwavering commitment to improving cancer care and his relentless pursuit of excellence make him a true luminary in the field.

Saryu D. Madra, an accomplished media & communications professional and a consistently high performer, brings to the table a rich and diverse experience of almost three decades ranging from working with government undertakings, premier industry chambers to corporate giants.

Currently placed as the Media Consultant at ROTTO, PGIMER, under the aegis of the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of India, Ms. Madra has played a pivotal role in championing the cause of deceased organ donation. Her concerted efforts have led to consistent and targeted media visibility, effectively mainstreaming the importance of this noble cause. .

Leveraging her adeptness in public relations and strategic communications, Madra has also contributed significantly in effecting a discernible enhancement in media engagement for the institute. Her meticulously crafted media strategy, coupled with her optimistic disposition and proactive approach, has not only garnered attention but also admiration for setting a high standard in the field of public relations.
