Ahead of the forthcoming Lok Sabha polls, major political developments have been witnessed in Haryana in the last three days making all parties to come up with foolproof and amended strategies to win the polls. In a program in Gurugram on 11 February, PM Narendra Modi by showering praise on then CM Manohar Lal indicated that he will remain the CM face in upcoming elections but contrary all expectation and speculations , Manohar was made to resign from the post on February 12
After the resignation, Manohar Lal handed over the reins of the state to BJP state president Nayab Saini, who hails from the OBC community. Further, in the special session of the Assembly was called on February 13 in which Chief Minister Nayab Saini won the trust vote and in the House itself, former Chief Minister Manohar Lal announced his resignation from Karnal Assembly constituency vacating the seat for CM Nayab Singh Saini. The matter did not stop here, by evening on 13 February, the second list of BJP’s Lok Sabha candidates released by the party high command in which Manohar Lal was declared the candidate from Karnal Lok Sabha seat. After the candidates fielded by BJP on 6 Lok Sabha seats of Haryana, now everyone is eyeing the much awaited names of possible candidates on 4 Lok Sabha seats to see who will be denied ticket and who will get it.
New political speculation got a boost in the state after the BJP high command denied tickets to two of the sitting MPs in the first list. On the lines of the experiments taken into consideration in other states, the Haryana BJP has denied tickets to two of the sitting MPs Sunita Duggal and Sanjay Bhatia, close to former CM Manohar Lal which led to new political discussions that two of the sitting MPs including Arvind Sharma RC Kaushik. It is pertinent to mention that at present, Brijender Singh, Arvind Sharma, RC Kaushik and the Chief Minister Nayab Saini are sitting MP from Hisar, Rohtak, Sonipat and Kurukshetra seats. Since Nayab Singh Saini has taken the charge as new CM and Brijendra Singh bid a farewell to the BJP and joined Congress, then BJP will be looking for new candidates from Hisar and Kurukshetra who survive the forthcoming polls. It is pertinent to mention that Kailasho Saini and Pawan Saini are seeking ticket from Kurukshetra Lok Sahba seat while , MP Arvind Sharma, OP Dhankhar, Baba Balaknath from Rohtak. Similarly sitting MP RC Kaushik, Mohan Lal Badoli, Yogeshwar Dutt, Rajeev Jain queue up for the ticket from Sonipat while former MP Kuldeep Bishnoi, former cabinet minister Captain Abhimanyu and Ranbir Gangwa from Hisar.
It is pertinent to mention that the BJP high command on Wednesday finalized the names of candidates for Ambala, Sirsa, Bhiwani-Mahendragarh, Karnal, Gurugram and Faridabad seats irrespective of non-declarations of Lok Sabha candidates by the main opposition Congress party. Political experts are of the opinion that the Congress has strengthened its position in the last few months making the upcoming polls a tough battle and in view of this, everyone is eager to see names of candidates for the remaining four seats, Rohtak, Sonipat, Hisar and Kurukshetra and It is not a cakewalk for the BJP to find suitable contestants on Jat dominated Rohtak, Sonipat and Hisar seats and since the BJP has been surprising opposite factions by coming up with new experiments as well as leaving everyone the sitting MPs in a state of dilemma about their ticket.
In view of the changed political equations, there is doubt over BJP’s sitting MPs getting tickets for Rohtak and Sonipat seats. The way BJP’s former ally JJP leader Dushyant Chautala said that BJP wanted him to contest the elections by making him the alliance candidate from Rohtak seat and due to my refusal the alliance could not move forward. It is evident that BJP is looking for a suitable candidate for Rohtak seat and due to high risk factor in Rohtak, Dushyant refused to contest the elections.
