ABVP spearheads campaign for transparent elections in JNU

The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) is actively advocating for a fair and transparent election process on campus. The student organization is reaching out to students in hostels, rooms, and mess halls, encouraging them to participate in the upcoming JNUSU elections and stressing the significance of their involvement in this democratic event.

ABVP volunteers are informing students about the positive changes implemented over the past years in areas such as campus infrastructure, admissions, examinations, results, hostels, and fellowships. They believe that active participation in the elections is crucial for establishing a strong and healthy student union, which can lead to effective leadership within the academic community.
In preparation for the elections scheduled on March 22, 2024, ABVP activists are conducting door-to-door and class-to-class campaigns, ensuring that every student is reached and informed about ABVP›s work in the interest of students. The enthusiasm displayed by the students throughout the year and their engagement in ABVP›s activities have garnered significant support for the volunteers.

Umesh Chandra Ajmeera, President of ABVP JNU, stated, «ABVP has launched a comprehensive campaign for the election. Our volunteers are engaging with every student to discuss various student welfare issues at JNU and are informing them about the efforts made by ABVP, including improved educational facilities, scholarships, and security.»
JNU Unit Secretary Vikas Patel expressed confidence, saying, «Seeing the enthusiasm of the students during the contact campaign, ABVP believes that the students will strongly support the council in this election and will help build a robust and effective student union at JNU. ABVP urges students to actively participate in the elections and choose their preferred candidates. The council believes that student participation is essential to strengthen democracy at the university,» added Patel.
