Karnataka: CM Siddaramiah received the Caste Census Report

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramiah received the socio-economic and education survey report, also referred to as the caste census report, on Thursday from Jayaprakash Hegde, the Chairman of the Commission for Backward Classes, at his Bengaluru office.
Today marks the end of Jayaprakash Hegde’s commission’s term.

This Commission-revised report was prepared using the data from the report prepared by the HA Kantaraj-led commission.

Shamanur Shivashankarappa, a Congress MLA and leader of the Lingayats, had earlier claimed that the survey needed to be conducted properly and that it hadn’t been done scientifically.

Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, in the meantime, stated that he suspected the Vokkaliga group was being treated unfairly and so called for a scientific report.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah responded to these accusations by clarifying that we are unsure of the contents of the report. Allow it to be filed, and once he has reviewed the report, he will respond.

A national caste census has been pushed by the INDIA bloc’s opposition parties.

The Bihar government disclosed caste survey results earlier in the year. The results, which could affect this year’s Lok Sabha elections, showed that 63% of the state’s population is made up of members of the Other Backward Caste (OBC) and Extremely Backward Class (EBC).
