J&K EXTENDS COVID CURBS TILL 31 JANUARY, CONFUSION ON GROUND IRKS PARENTS, STUDENTS

SRINAGAR: Covid-19 restrictions in Jammu & Kashmir’s containment zones have been extended up to 31 January 2021, as per the latest communication of the administration. However, people have no fresh information about containment and red zones in Jammu and Kashmir as such notification has not been issued for a long time now. People, especially the student community in Kashmir, are confused as all the private coaching institutions are functioning normally, making thousands of students vulnerable to covid-19 infection.

“If government has extended fresh lockdown till January end 2021, why the administration is not coming out with names of those areas which fall in containment zones, they are hand in glove with owners of these private coaching institutions making lives of our wards vulnerable,” said Muhammad Sultan Bhat of Parry Pora on Airport road, where dozens of private coaching institutions are open.

While there have been some dry run exercises for the vaccination plan in many areas, in Jammu and Kashmir no exercise has been taken so far. Earlier J&K Chief Secretary held a high-level meeting a few weeks back and claimed that they were ready for a vaccination plan.

Students are also very disappointed as the authorities have extended a ban on 4G services till 8 January 2021. This extension of ban on the high speed Internet has only added to the worries of students who were expecting after the results of DDC elections, complete lifting of curbs on internet services here.
